The world of infant feeding can be intimidating. Whether you’re a first time or seasoned parent, it can be difficult to know which choice to make for your baby. Advice from family and friends often only further confuse things or you can’t find the right information and you feel a bit lost. This 2 hour session is the perfect gentle introduction to infant feeding. I will take you through all of your options, assess each one with you, and help you to make a decision that you feel happy with. If you already know how you’d like to feed your baby, the session will be tailored to you and your feeding choices to ensure you’re getting the most out of the session. I can cover a range of topics depending on your feeding preference, including: Milk production - how your body makes milk Newborn behaviours - what to expect in the first few hours, days and weeks after birth, Hand Expressing - why this is a useful skill to learn before birth and how to express and collect colostrum Breastfeeding - How to establish breastfeeding following the birth and maintain good milk supply, positioning and attachment, how to avoid common feeding issues Pumping - Information about pumps and how to store breastmilk safely Bottle feeding - How and when to introduce a bottle, the importance of using a paced bottle technique, the best shaped teats for your baby Formula feeding - How to use and store formula safely, paced bottle feeding, sterilising your feeding equipment, feeding on the go Feeding plan - If you are already confident in your choice, we can work together and create a feeding plan for you and your partner, to ensure you are given the best possible start to your feeding journey. Please note, this session does not include any WhatsApp follow up support included in the cost, this can be purchased as extra if you choose.
